HELLENIC OLYMPIANS ASSOCIATION

The Hellenic Olympians Association was founded in 1987 based on a world leading inspiration of Georgios Vichos, who was also its first President. He was later succeeded in his position by Georgios Zaimis, Dimitris Skourtis and Georgios Andreadis. In 1993 the idea was embraced by International Olympic Committee, which established the World Olympians Association based in Lausanne. Nowadays, the WOA counts as its members 128 National Foundations, functions under the auspices of the IOC, is the official Association of Olympians worldwide.

Faidon Matthaiou The Patriarch of Greek Basketball

Faidon Matthaiou (1924 – 2011) was one of the brightest all round athletes of the Greek sports pantheon but he thrived mostly in basketball.
Born in Thessaloniki on the 12th July of 1924 he came from a family with a heritage in sports.

European Nations Olympians Congress was a total success


The congress of European Olympians was carried out with total success during the 29th to the 31th of July 2011, in the Auditorium of the American College of Greece.

Taking part in it were more than 40 participants from 31 countries who resided in the hospitable premises of the American College in Agia Paraskevi.
