On Thursday the 20th of January 2011 at the Kallimarmaro Panathenaic Stadium, took place the ceremony of Igniting and Relaying the Olympic Flame to the Organizing Committee of the European Olympic Youth Festival, which will take place at Liberec, at the Czech Republic.
The President of the HOC Mr. Spiros Kapralos was the one to deliver the Flame and he also mentioned among others the significance of these games of Winter Sports, which are staged under the auspices of the IOC. When he received the Flame, The Czech President of the Organizing Committee, Roman Kumpost, noted that this is the first time that the Czech Republic receives the Flame while the President of the IOC, Dr. Jacques Rogge, will also attend the games.
The First Torch Bearer was Natalia Papaioannou (EOS of Athens, born in 1992), High Priestess was Ino Menegaki, who also participated as Vestal at the Ignition Ceremony for the Youth Olympic Games of Singapore in 2010 and choreographer was Artemis Ignatiou.
As representatives of the Hellenic Olympians Association, one of the Vice Presidents Giannis Palios and the General Secretary George Liveris also attended.
